Club History

Timeline of Glenmore Heritage Valley Golf

Our course has grown alongside the community it serves. Here's a brief look at how it all began and how far we’ve come:

1825
Mr Henry Cox, second son of William Cox who built the first road across the Blue Mountains, was the founder and built an ‘L’ shaped building.
1852
James John Riley bought Glenmore, added the south wing, and later became Penrith’s first mayor in 1871, with his family crest still displayed at the clubhouse.
1900
In the early 1900s the Riley sisters ran a young ladies’ school, and in 1927 Glenmore Country Club opened with golf, horse riding, and swimming.
1927
Opened in May 1927, Glenmore is the second-oldest metropolitan course west of Parramatta, with its 185-year-old homestead and coach-house still in use today.
1938
Expansion to 18 holes, welcoming more members and casual players.
1993
After a full redesign, the course became a 27-hole championship complex and was renamed Glenmore Heritage Valley.
2004
Clubhouse renovations and improved practice facilities.
2010
Community programs introduced – including junior golf, seniors’ mornings, and social competitions.
Today
Glenmore continues to grow as a community-focused course for all ages and skill levels.
